Crystal Software Sign deal with ReNaissance Software

Crystal Software have signed a deal with ReNaissance Software which bring a whole host of various games for the Amiga.

ReNaissance Software are a busy bunch with them currently developing six games for the Amiga at various stages of development. Their first title is Mazza K Racing, a 2D fun racing game based upon the old Super Nes game Super Mario Kart. Up to 4 players can take part in over 25 tracks in racing fun between 25 characters to win 5 Cups using an array of 12 weapons or items to give racers an upper hand. There is 4 speed modes, time trial mode, duel racing mode, a combat zone and hard drive file of each players personal best records.

The Darklore Scriptures is a point and click graphic adventure which sounds like it has a dark scary storyline. The brief story is that Aiden has to find and destroy the pages of an ancient spell book, The Grimoire, before evil forces can get their hands on it and enslave the universe. Doesn't sound too scary but I've been informed it's going to have lots of blood, gore and death with some twisted humour and animated cut scenes. They have another point and click adventure in the works called 9 Lives but details aren't available.

ReNaissance Software are making some of their titles for a various of platforms, Cherry Elsewhere is one of them which is an 3D action RPG for PowerPC equipped Amiga's and two other platforms. The story to this RPG is that Atlantis never sank. It merely teleported itself to another dimension by accident. A failed attempt to return to Earth led to 16 year old schoolgirl Cherry being brought over to the Atlantean dimension. If Cherry wants to return home, which she does, she'll have to go on all sorts of quests and adventures. There's going to be some interesting camera movements, not just zooming in or out but it will hang on rails at 45 degrees angle to Cherry, swinging around so that all faces of an object or building will be visable and possible to interact with. This is a huge project for ReNaissance Software with many different locations, characters and original puzzles to interact with. Cherry Elsewhere is in stasis until Crystal Software are confident that they have a good level of support with Amiga users purchasing their releases.

This is the same for RED a Pseudo 3D platform puzzle/ shoot'em up, with non-Linear gameplay. Rather than the story being something that takes place in between levels, as in most platform games, the player will actually decide the direction of the story through his or her actions. This means that there are multiple exits on levels, each leading to different levels. The background to the story is that the Evil and Powerful Fractus is trying to create a super race through genetic experimentation and cybernetic body enhancements. The player takes control of Trayen, the leader of a group of human rebels, the resistance, who oppose Fractus and aim to spoil his plans. It's up to you the player to take it from there in RED which will include polygon graphics.

The future of ReNaissance Software's last listed title is dependant upon you the readers. Empire is a Syndicate inspired game, set in the future were only six agencies are left that dominate the world; peace is a distant memory, replaced by a permanent arms race as the agencies vie for power. The player takes control of one of these agencies and attempts world domination. The game is different depending on which agency you play as, with high attention to detail in the action part of the game and different backgrounds for each country will be noticably different. As I said earlier the future of Empire is dependant on you the readers, the programmers feel that this concept might be a bit outdated, and would not recieve the impact it would surely deserve. But I and Publishers Crystal Software believe that Empire would be very much welcomed by Amiga Gamers, so if you want to persuade them and show your support for it's development, then send them a e-mail using the e-mail address below.
